Last week, the Prestige Care & Support team were delighted to attend a Meet and Greet Open Day with the Health and Social Care students at Barking & Dagenham College. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with passionate young people who are exploring a future in the care sector.
The event was filled with energy, positivity, and genuine enthusiasm from both students and staff. We were warmly welcomed by the college team, whose dedication to preparing the next generation of health and social care professionals was clear from the very start.
Throughout the day, we shared our experiences of working within the home care industry — discussing what it’s really like to make a difference in someone’s daily life, support independence, and provide care that comes from the heart. Many of the students were interested to hear about the different pathways within care, from personal care and companionship to specialist support services such as dementia care, palliative care, and disability support.
We spoke about how rewarding and fulfilling a career in care can be, offering not only job satisfaction but also the chance to build lasting relationships with clients and families in the local community. It was inspiring to see so many students eager to learn more about what makes great care possible — compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
The open day was also a valuable opportunity for us to highlight the importance of training, professional development, and teamwork in the care sector. At Prestige Care & Support, we believe that carers are the heart of our service, and investing in their growth is essential to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Barking & Dagenham College for inviting us and to all the Health and Social Care students who took the time to talk with us. It was a pleasure to meet so many kind, motivated, and friendly individuals who represent the future of caring in our community.
We hope that by sharing our story, we’ve shown how working in care is not just a job — it’s a truly rewarding and meaningful career that makes a difference every single day.
